Villa College Interior Architecture Students Compete in AAM Selection Rounds for International Recognition
2 min read

Villa College is proud to celebrate the talent and professional initiative demonstrated by three of our students from the Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture & Design program. These emerging designers recently participated in the local selection rounds for two prestigious international competitions, where they presented their final year projects with exceptional passion and professionalism. This significant event, organized by the Architects Association of Maldives (AAM), provided a critical platform for our students to showcase their work to the wider industry.

The opportunity to present final year projects in a competitive, professional setting is an invaluable part of a student's educational journey. It marks a transition from academic exercise to professional practice, allowing students to articulate their design concepts and defend their creative choices before an audience of industry experts. By participating, our students not only gained experience in high-stakes presentations but also took a crucial step toward gaining recognition beyond our nation's borders, positioning themselves within the global design arena.

The event, facilitated by the Architects Association of Maldives, underscores the importance of a strong connection between academia and the professional design community. Providing such a platform allows emerging talent to be seen and celebrated, fostering a dynamic and supportive ecosystem for the next generation of architects and designers. We are thrilled to see our students confidently stepping onto this stage, ready to share their innovative ideas with the world.

This initiative strongly reflects Villa College's dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event champions SDG 4, Quality Education, by providing an inclusive and hands-on learning experience that bridges academic theory with professional practice. It directly supports SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, by preparing students for meaningful career opportunities and giving them the exposure necessary to thrive in a competitive industry. Furthermore, by encouraging the presentation of forward-thinking design projects, the initiative aligns with SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, which promotes the development of innovative and responsible design for our built environment.

Villa College commends our students for their hard work and courage in participating in this event. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Architects Association of Maldives for their leadership in creating these vital opportunities and for their continued support of emerging design talent in the Maldives.
