Villa College recently welcomed approximately 10,000 attendees to the Vara Expo 2025, an event designed to connect the community with our vision of academic excellence and holistic development. The expo served as a comprehensive platform for prospective students and the general public to explore the college's vision, mission, and extensive campus facilities. Our primary objective was to offer a transparent view of the learning opportunities available, supported by detailed information on student support services and the vibrant academic environment that defines our institution.
A central feature of the event was the provision of personalised career guidance and pathway planning. Visitors engaged in one-on-one sessions where they received assistance in identifying suitable career options tailored to their interests, strengths, and future goals. These consultations were enriched by insights into emerging job markets and industry trends, ensuring that advice was relevant to the current economic landscape. Our team clarified the academic pathways available after O’Levels and A’Levels to illustrate how students can progress step-by-step toward their dream careers. We provided comprehensive details regarding the full range of programmes offered at Villa College, which includes Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees. Staff members were on hand to distribute brochures and explain entry requirements, course durations, fee structures, and the flexibility of online and face-to-face study options, specifically highlighting new programmes in high demand.
Beyond academic counselling, the expo highlighted the college's commitment to community wellbeing through the combined efforts of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the School of Psychology, VCare, and the Chinese Language Centre. The Faculty of Health Sciences anchored this segment with hands-on activities designed to empower individuals with practical health knowledge. These activities included adult and infant CPR demonstrations, Virtual Reality internal organ exploration, and general health screenings. Visitors also benefited from nutrition and healthy lifestyle counselling, blood pressure and BMI checks, and interactive health puzzles that encouraged critical thinking about personal wellbeing.
Complementing the physical health focus, the School of Psychology and VCare provided essential services regarding mental wellness. The School of Psychology conducted psychological wellbeing screenings and stress and anxiety checks in a supportive environment. They introduced practical techniques such as mindfulness and grounding exercises while facilitating interactive discussions on emotional regulation. VCare added to this by offering wellbeing counselling and stress-relief activities, creating a safe space for visitors to explore their emotional needs. Crucially, they provided guidance on accessing support services to help demystify the process of seeking help. The Chinese Language Centre integrated cultural perspectives into this wellness narrative by introducing visitors to traditional practices, including Chinese herbal tea tasting and therapeutic calligraphy demonstrations, which showcased the intersection of language learning and holistic health.
Innovation and practical skills were also at the forefront of the event, demonstrated by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology through their student project showcase. This section displayed a variety of real engineering projects, each accompanied by descriptions of the design process and purpose. Students demonstrated how their projects functioned in real time, offering visitor-friendly explanations of the technology used and its industrial applications. The zone featured interactive elements and robotics movements, allowing attendees to test and observe prototypes firsthand. This hands-on demonstration underscored the practical, problem-solving approach to learning that is central to the engineering programmes at Villa College.
